The Top 5 Best Brunch Places in New Orleans

If you go to New Orleans and don’t do brunch, does it even count? I’d say no.

New Orleans is home to some of the best food in the world, but I think we can all agree that brunch is always where it’s at. In one of the most competitive culinary markets in the country, NOLA reigns with endless amazing options.

So, how can you choose where to go for brunch? The five restaurants below are the best places to find out-of-this-world delicious brunch with atmosphere, service, and french-creole dishes you can’t find anywhere else.

Commander’s Palace

The most adorable cafe nestled in New Orleans’ beautiful Garden District, Commander’s Palace is an institution. It’s been in operation since 1893, and their elegant Creole fare will quickly show you why. But don’t mistake Commander’s Palace for just any old Creole restaurant! They’ve won 7 James Beard Foundation Awards (like the Oscars of food), and have been home to world-renowned chefs like Emeril Lagasse.

What to order:

If you’re visiting on the weekend when Commander’s Palace has their official Brunch Menu, go for ‘Tory’s Favorite Brunch Package’. It’s a three course meal with one hell of a bloody mary – when in NOLA, right?

If you’ll be dining through the week, Commander’s will show you a lunch menu instead. Their 2-course lunch specials are always to die for (and typically a good deal). Add the Creole Bread Pudding Souffle for the table to finish.

Brunch Protip:

Martinis are $0.25 with a meal on weekdays! You read that right: TWENTY-FIVE CENTS! There’s a 3-martinis-per-person limit, but they aren’t shy with their pours. Three is more than enough!

Brennan’s

Brennan’s Restaurant is a New Orleans tradition, known for its posh breakfast and brunch. Everything is on another level of extra – from the coffee served in french press to the tableside preparations.

What to order:

For something light, the crab & avocado toast is incredible. For the full New Orleans brunch, you’ll want to order the 2-course breakfast. You’ll have your choice of seafood gumbo or baked apple (for the sweet tooth) to start and Eggs Sardou or Hussarde for your entree.

Brunch Protip:

Have their bananas foster for dessert. It’s flambéed tableside and to die for.

The Country Club

A classic New Orleans Brunch at The Country Club

Drag Brunch on Saturdays at The Country Club is outrageous and super fun – an awesome choice for bachelorette parties. It is incredibly popular, to the point it can be nearly impossible to get a reservation (think: 6 months in advance!) But, even if you can’t get in for the Drag Brunch on Saturdays, the Country Club makes this list on it’s own right for incredible food and Instagram-worthy decor on any day of the week.

What to order:

The Fried Green Tomatoes and Eggs and bottomless mimosas!

Bring your swimsuit and save some time after brunch for the pool party out back! The Country Club New Orleans is the chic-est way to beat the Louisiana heat!

Palace Cafe

Right on Canal Street in the French Quarter, the Palace Cafe’s Jazz Brunch is a dream. Imagine sipping mimosas and enjoying your crab cakes benedict while jazz musicians circulate the room.

What to order:

The Palace Cafe’s Crab Cakes Benedict.

Brunch Protip:

The Jazz Brunch only takes place on weekends, so make sure to plan your brunching accordingly. You’ll also want to ask to sit on the upper level!

Broussard’s New Orleans Brunch

Classically beautiful, with an impeccable menu – what more could you dream of in a New Orleans Brunch? Broussard’s is elegant and intimate, and conveniently located in the heart of the French Quarter. The food, drinks, and service are all on point. I’d recommend Broussard’s for any meal (or, hey, just drinks) but their brunch is truly something special.

What to order:

Broussard’s Southern Fried Chicken & Waffles and Bottomless Mimosas (they’re only $14 per person!) $14 for bottomless brunch mimosas in New Orleans is a STEAL!

Brunch Protip:

If the weather permits, make sure you ask to sit in the courtyard!
